Rankings guide: every leaderboard and how to climb them

A guide to the Ironbarrow rankings: the groups of boards, the weekly race that starts fresh every Monday, and what counts toward population, war and wilds.

· 2 min read

Ironbarrow has more than 25 rankings, so there is almost always something to fight over. You do not have to be the strongest warrior to top one: builders, hunters, traders and gamblers all have a board of their own. This guide shows how they are organised and how to climb.

The groups of boards

On the Rankings page, boards are grouped. Pick a group, then a board. Your place on every board is shown on its card.

  • Overall: city score, player level, military power, wealth, army size, number of cities and population.
  • This week: boards that start fresh and count only what you gained this week.
  • War: battles won, enemy soldiers slain, plunder, trophies and defences won.
  • Wilds: barbarian camps cleared, bosses slain, adventures and animals caught.
  • Tavern: the most wagered, the biggest win, win streaks and more. Learn the games in the Tavern guide.
  • Realm: builders, scholars, traders and quest hunters.
  • Alliances: alliances compete as a team, so being in a strong alliance counts.

The weekly race

The This week boards start fresh every Monday and count only what you gain after that, so a newer player has a real chance to win them. Last week's champions are shown above the boards.

Population counts every city

The Population board adds up the citizens of all your cities, the capital and every colony. Founding more cities and keeping them well housed is the way up. Houses and farms are the keys, and our beginner's guide explains how.

How to climb

  1. Pick a board that suits your style. A peaceful builder can aim for builders, scholars or population.
  2. Check the gap. Under the podium you can see exactly how much more you need to pass the player above you.
  3. Use the weekly boards for quick wins. One good week of camp clearing can put you on a podium.
  4. Fight together. Alliance boards add up every member's effort.
  5. Come back often. Rankings update as the game goes on, and your city keeps working while you are away, as explained in how Ironbarrow works while you are away.

Why rankings matter

Rankings are the easiest way to see how you are doing next to the whole realm. They also show up on your profile, and the gifts and tips you give count too. Rankings add a goal to every session, even a short one.
