Level 99, Mastery and capes: what comes after 99 in Barrowlands
What happens at level 99 in Barrowlands: skill capes and the Max cape, what they boost, how Mastery levels work past 99 and what to do next.
Level 99 is not the end of a skill in Barrowlands. It is where capes and Mastery begin. This guide explains both.
Reaching 99
A skill takes a long time to reach 99, around 300 hours of steady work at the best tasks. Barrowlands is made for this pace: your hero keeps working while you are away, and the best tasks rise as you level. When you reach 99, everyone sees it in the General chat.
Capes of mastery
At level 99 you can buy that skill's cape for 99,000 coins. Wear one cape at a time in the Cape slot (wearing it also needs the level). A cape only helps while you wear it:
- Skilling capes: +4% experience and 4% faster in that skill.
- Attack, Strength, Defence and Magic: +4 to that stat.
- Hitpoints: +4 hit points.
- Prayer: 2% less damage in fights.
The Max cape
The Max cape costs 1,500,000 coins and needs every skill at 99. It gives half of each boost: +3% experience and speed in every non-combat skill, +2 to the combat stats, +2 hit points and 1% less damage.
Capes are small on purpose. They are never stronger than one piece of a skilling set, so they reward effort without ending the game.
Mastery past 99
Experience keeps counting after 99. The first Mastery level costs 100,000 experience, and each one costs a little more, up to level 100. Every Mastery level gives:
- +1 Effective Level, which counts for combat stats and hit points
- 1% faster tasks
- 0.5% more yield
What to do next
- Forge skilling sets and Legendary Tools from Skilling Shards in Enchanting.
- Push deeper in the Barrow Depths.
- Lead a guild to the top of the weekly goals.
- Sell your extra materials on the market.
